A MESSAGE FROM OUR
MAYOR
The
citizens of Breese and I wish to welcome you to our website.
The City of Breese was founded in 1856. It was named for
Sidney Breese, the longest serving Chief of Justice of the
Illinois Supreme Court. We have a new History Park to
celebrate our past. Clinton County Showcase has just
renovated the downtown Avon Theater for their productions.
These are just two of the ways we are
PROUD OF OUR PAST.
We
have PLANNED FOR OUR FUTURE
by upgrading electric, water, sewer, and
road infrastructure. The private sector has provided
a modern healthcare system, successful small
businesses, and the have supported the growth of
quality schools (public & private) that fit every
child’s needs. Our Breese organizations provide a
way to make new friends and become involved in the
community. These organizations, working with
business and city government, have worked together
to provide a high quality of life with small town
values. Quality recreations exist in our 3 parks,
Bent Oak G.C., and quality school athletics and
academics. We are part of the St. Louis region and
Southwestern Illinois with all of its economic,
entertainment, and cultural opportunities.
If
you’re looking for a small city with small town
friendliness, great schools, quality healthcare,
recreational opportunities, and a vision for the
future, Breese should be on your list of places to
look. Please contact me with your questions at
